I always come up with ideas by actively keeping a sketchbook. These drawings are often the beginning of more extensive work and also ensure that I continue to draw. If I don’t do it for a while, my drawing hand gets so cramped. It feels like I have wooden hands without hinges. In that sense, a sketchbook is a kind of artistic oil.
