Volcom approached me for a second collaboration, this time with a single line from a poem as the starting point for a new collection. There was something about it that immediately sparked my imagination. Quiet but persistent, that one sentence opened the door to an entire world.
As I worked, I began to see colourful warriors drifting through shifting skies, cosmic mushrooms glowing beneath the stars, strange characters in motion, and moments of love suspended in space. The illustrations became fragments of that universe, where colour carries the narrative and form follows emotion.
The Volcom team then brought those drawings into the physical world through their incredible craftsmanship. The collection features embroidered bomber jackets, sweatshirts printed with extra-thick layers of ink to give the artwork even more depth, caps, boardshorts, socks, T-shirts, and beautifully washed heavyweight cotton garments.
One of the most remarkable things about collaborations like this is that hundreds of hands contribute to the final product. From the first sketch to the finished garment, everyone adds a piece of their own creativity to the collection.
Once again, the work has found its way into skate and surf shops around the world, each storefront becoming a small window into this colourful and imaginative universe.
