National Geographic has asked me to create monthly illustrations to accompany Myrthe Prins’s column ‘Proefkonijnen’ (Test Rabbits). The illustrations did not have to be direct translations of the text. Rather, I was called upon to enlarge elements that appealed to me in the text into an image. As a result, the illustrations have their origins and claws in the text but are also a separate poetic layer that tells its own story and supporting text. The entire series is drawn with coloured pencils. The art direction of this project was done bij Samantha Simons and Nancy de Brouwer.
