“Driften” Exhibition in Moving Gallery

Moving Gallery invited me to participate in the group show Driften. For this show, I created four new paintings in various formats. These works originated from my dreams, meditations, and visions that sometimes arise. I attempted to capture these images by translating them onto canvas as quickly as possible. Partly because of this, they have become personal symbols for patience, adventure, growth, and the urge for slowness. Below is a short piece about what Moving Gallery wrote about the exhibition.

“At the intersection of illustration and fine art: DRIFTEN (Drifts)

On Friday 3 October 2025 we will open our new exhibition, DRIFTEN. Marlies Visser, graphic designer and founder of the Illustration Biennale, will open the exhibition at 16:30. One of the areas where the Moving Gallery enjoys operating is in the space between illustration and fine art. In the group exhibition DRIFTEN, the four artists Don Duyns, Johan Kleinjan, Bob Mollema and Nouch are positioned exactly there, with the difference being that none of the works are commissioned pieces. Their styles differ greatly, but they share one thing: an irrepressible urge for expression, experimentation and imagination. In DRIFTEN, we see absurdist scenes and alienating images that invite the viewer to exchange the familiar for new perspectives.”
