Orgaanklap is a band with dirty guys. Far beneath the dirt is beautiful poetry, but on the surface it’s dirt. Of course there are suggestive lines which makes you think about the beauty of life, but before you know it you need to dodge shit bullets.

Orgaanklap is a raging storm with no starting point. So I asked the guys if they could send me a list of what they like and dislike. I received a list with terms like: quantum physics, fries, soccer, freezer, animal sex, dancing, love, nature etcetera. This gave me as illustrator a lot of artistic freedom.

Fluisteraars is a band that I founded together with M. Koops in 2006. With this band we release conceptual albums that we pay a lot of attention to. Our last album, ‘Oeverloos’, has been named metal album of the year by Stereogum. This was a split album with the band Turia.

For Fluisteraars, M. Koops and I devise all the concepts that I then provide with appropriate design. It varies from photography, painting and drawing.

We are always on the hunt for sophisticated techniques in the field of print. Our label, Eisenwald, gives us plenty of room to experiment. Think of different types of vinyl, printing inks and paper types for the cover.

Pentatone is a Dutch classical music label located in Baarn, Netherlands. The label focuses on production of high-end, 5-channel surround sound recordings. Three former executives of Philips Classics, Giel Bessels, Dirk van Dijk and Job Maarse, established the label in 2001.

I was asked to develop a series for a Prokofiev CD box. For this I have studied neo-suprematism and constructivism. As a result, I adhered to basic geometric shapes.

Donnerwetter is a Dutch band from Arnhem that was founded in 2013. The band released their eponymous debut album in 2014 and also the single Dance. The second album, Pavlov beauty saloon, appeared in 2016 and reached number 18 in the Album Top 100.

Donnerwetter approached me to become their in-house designer. I have since designed posters, LPs and shirts for them.  They always give me a lot of freedom to try out new styles and printing techniques. Every time I ensure that it is a well-cared-for whole that serves as a translation of the music.

Kapitaal and Mondays have joined forces.Kapitaal gives room to print freaks and up-and-coming visual talent, Mondays is committed to guitar freaks and up-and-coming musical talent.

I was asked to sign a creep during this edition of Creeps. This was screen-printed by Kapitaal and scattered throughout the space. Other image makers were also involved. While this exhibition was on display, the band DUDS played in the background.

Paradiso is a stage in a former church on Leidseplein in Amsterdam, which attracts more than 600,000 people every year. It is one of the best known and most visited pop temples in the Netherlands.

Paradiso regularly asks me to design a poster. Here you will find a number of different designs.

Church of Sun is a band from Long Beach, California. They approached me to design a poster for a mini tour.

When I thought of Church of Sun, I thought of a group of people who hated everything that creates shadow. So on the poster you see someone who is burning nicely, umbrellas are on fire, etcetera. That are the things that true worshipers or sunlight must do.

Thaïti is a great band from Nijmegen that is reminiscent of Talking Heads, but also has a kind of mysterious sexyness hanging over it like purple mist with orange speckles.

They have put together a great concept for their debut album. It’s about an island where someone lives. That person organizes parties for the island every evening. He has a radio with which he sends messages to the world. In a sense, he is trapped in a paradise. It is namely a recluse who has the urge to share. That is ambiguous.

The cover artwork speaks for itself I think. You see the start of a hallucinating journey. Namely a crashed plane. From there, waves arise that take the spirits of the island with them.

Antiz is one of the most recognized European skateboard companies.

I had a lot of freedom for this project. The performance you see is about breaking away from the American and Christian standard and daring to embrace our pre-Christian traditions. It is about tribes that lived in more unity with nature, just like skateboarding adheres to a rebellious culture, the longing for a time when people and nature in unity are rebellious as well. It is strange that it is rebellious, but because it is a domain where it is not so much about money, but especially about happiness, this domain is hated by the coldest monster that exists; the state.

The Shave is a project that I initiated in 2012 in collaboration with illustrator Isa van Weert.

The Shave’s idea was quite simple. It is a band that does not make music, but does release albums, tour posters and t-shirts.

A number of other projects were rolled out from the Shave that were a success in Utrecht.
